M Marcus Door Handles Care & Maintenance.

Caring for Polished Brass, Antique, Satin Nickel, Jupiter, Mercury and Mayfair lacquered finish Door Furniture.

The life of lacquered coatings is limited and cannot therefore be guaranteed. There are many factors that can cause a premature deterioration of the lacquer such as the use of metal cleaner or aerosol spray polishes, abrasion of surfaces by rings and keys, sea air, high humidity and exposed locations.
To help maintain lacquer finishes periodically wipe over with a soft non-abrasive cloth moistened with soapy water and then use a dry cloth to buff gently to a shine. For all external fittings wipe over as above and then apply sparingly a good wax polish, to avoid smears buff gently before the wax dries. DO NOT USE metal cleaners or aerosol polishes on lacquered surfaces as these will damage the surface. Exterior fittings will also benefit from a periodic light oiling of any springs and moving parts.

Caring for Polished Chrome, Satin Chrome, Apollo finish and Everbrite finish Door Furniture.

A light dusting with a soft non-abrasive cloth will remove finger marks. A sparingly applied non-abrasive wax polish can be used to remove difficult marks and then buff to a shine, but using too much polish may cause smearing or bloom which can then be difficult to remove.

Caring for Black Iron Door Furniture.

Periodically wipe interior fittings over with a dry soft cloth. For exterior fittings wipe over with a lightly oiled soft cloth to maintain lustre. Exterior fittings will also benefit from a periodic light oiling of any springs and moving parts and this will also help to prevent corrosion. Any iron product is prone to rusting so if the decorative finish shows signs of chipping, remove any loose or flaking material, making sure the surface is dry and grease free, then spot the affected area with enamel paint.
